Abstract

1387863 Polymerisation catalyst CELANESE CORP 15 June 1972 [28 June 1971] 27976/72 Heading B1E [Also in Division C3] A catalyst mixture for trioxan copolymerization comprises (a) a Lewis acid and (b) an organic, non-acidic tin compound containing at least one Sn-O or Sn-S bond. The mixture may be formed in situ by addition of the tin compound during polymerization or the mixture pre-formed. In the latter case complexforming reactions are prevented. Exemplified mixtures comprise (a) boron trifluoride or phosphorus pentafluoride and (b) dibutyl tin dilaurate or stannous octoate.
