Abstract

1387197 Guillotine cutting machines SIMONVK Ltd 3 Dec 1973 [1 Dec 1972] 55479/72 Heading B4B A guillotine machine comprises an elongated backgauge 1 for moving the material towards a cutting station X-X, the backgauge being connected to an endless drive member, e.g. a chain 8 driven by means of, e.g. piston-and-cylinder device 11, 12 such that when the drive member is moved by the drive means the backgauge moves in a rectilinear path in a direction at right angles to its longitudinal axis. The piston-andcylinder device is connected to a pair of doubleacting solenoid-operated valves 14, 16 connected to an hydraulic pump 18. In operation, with the valves 14 and 16 in positions B and C respectively, the backgauge begins to move at a fast speed. The valve 16 is then operated to the position D so that the fluid has to pass therethrough via a restriction M thereby causing a slow down in the backgauge speed prior to both valves being actuated to their neutral position to stop the backgauge. The backgauge is returned its initial position at high speed by actuating the valves to their A and C positions. The valves may be controlled manually or automatically via a programmed control device. The hydraulic circuit may also be used to actuate the cutting blade.
