Abstract
1387114 Transponders RELIANCE (SHEFFIELD) Ltd 23 Feb 1972 [23 Nov 1970] 55650/70 Heading H4L In a transponder, incoming pulses are amplified at 2, and supplied to a unit 3 which detects the start of a pulse and supplies a signal to an amplifier 4 which provides positive feedback to the amplifier 2. Unit 3 also supplies a signal to a gate 5 which controls unit 3 to maintain the arrangement operative for one microsecond irrespective of the duration of the received pulse so that an amplified signal is retransmitted for this period. The output of gate 5 controls a one second monostable 6 which in turn operates means 7 for indicating that a signal has been received. After several microseconds delay the gate 5 switches the system back to the "receive" state. The device may be incorporated with a passive radar reflector.
