1386427 Counting apparatus WIRTH GALLO & CO 27 March 1972 [28 April 1971] 14177/72 Heading G4D [Also in Division G1] A weighing apparatus which calculates the price of a weighed article from a keyed-in price per unit weight and then totals a number of prices, allows unit weight to be set into the calculator whereby prices of items not needed to be weighed can be keyed-in and added to the total. In Fig. 2 the weight of an article determined by a measuring cell 1 generates two A.C. signals of different frequencies, F 1 which increases with weight and F 2 which decreases with weight. F 2 is passed to counter 5 which, after a predetermined count, signals control unit 8 which produces a stop signal for counters 13 and 11 to which F 1 has been applied. Counter 13 counts only during half the predetermined count of F 2 , and the result is doubled; if the weighing process has reached stability, the doubled count of 13 will equal that of counter 11. A price per unit weight is keyed-in from keyboard 18 to a multiplier 17 which calculates from the output of counter 11 the price of an article and supplies this via unit 13 (now used as an intermediate store) for addition to the total in 22. The total, weight, price and price per unit weight are printed out and displayed via lines 15 and 20. A key 6 when operated sets register 11 to unit rate, e.g. 1000 kg. enabling the keyboard 18 to key into multiplier 17 the price of an item which then multiplies it by the unit rate for addition to the total in 22 as before. An erase key 24 also sets register 11 to unit rate allowing a price, which had previously been added to the total in 22 in error, to be keyed-in from keyboard 18 into the multiplier 17, placed in register 13 and its complement formed in circuit 25 for addition to the total in 22, thereby subtracting the erroneous price from the total.
