Abstract
1386117 Measuring displacement CARL ZEISS JENA VEB 17 April 1972 17657/72 Heading G4H [Also in Division G1] A length measuring device comprises a static scale having on one flat face two sets of equal sized electrodes 21, 22, the electrodes of each group being electrically connected and the groups interlacing as shown, and a movable scanning plate having two further sets of electrodes 28, 29 on a flat face thereof co-operating with the scale, the lengths of these electrodes being longer than the width of the scale and their arrangement being such that the distances between the axis of one electrode and the axes of the two adjacent electrodes are unequal, the smaller of these distances being (n + ¢) times the distance (d + a) where d is the distance between adjacent electrodes of the scale and a is their thickness, n being a natural number. A.C. voltages in phase opposition are applied to respective groups of the scale and the A.C. induced in those of the scanning plate while this is moved are taken via sum and difference amplifiers and phase shifters to phase sensitive rectifiers which pass pulses to a counter indicative of zero passages.
