1385507 Furan derivatives BADISCHE ANILIN- & SODA-FABRIK AG 5 May 1972 [8 May 1971] 20995/72 Heading C2C Furan derivatives where one of the radicals R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>4</SP> denotes hydrogen and the other benzyl, styryl, or a radical of ethylbenzene, and one of the radicals R<SP>2</SP> and R<SP>3</SP> denotes hydrogen and the other hydroxymethyl or a radical of the methyl ester of a linear or branched aliphatic or aromatic carboxylic acid are prepared by reacting an oxazole where R<SP>6</SP> denotes methyl or carbalkoxy is reacted with R<SP>2</SP>-C # C-R<SP>3</SP>, at a temperature of 30 to 250‹ C. 2 - Benzyl - 4 - methoxazole may be the starting material with propargyl acetate or alcohol and an example describes the preparation of 5-benzyl-3-furylmethyl acetate.
