Abstract
1385395 Induction motors SEALED MOTOR CONSTRUCTION CO Ltd 12 Oct 1973 [9 Nov 1972] 51875/72 Heading H2A An axial air gap induction motor comprises a discoidal rotor 5 of electrically conductive, non- magnetic material disposed between a stator core 1 carrying windings 1a and a flux return member 2 of magnetic material carried by a non- magnetic support member 3. In the pump shown, a partition 8 is disposed between the stator and rotor and the flux return member is fixed to the support member 3 by screws. Alternatively, the flux return member may be partially or totally embedded in the support member which is made of plastics material or brass. The rotor 5 is made of copper or aluminium. The rotor and an impeller 6 are mounted on the opposite ends of a shaft 7 supported by bearings 7a carried by the support member 3.
