Abstract

1385252 Packaging structure formed from a folded blank MARDON SON & HALL Ltd 11 July 1973 [12 July 1972] 32482/72 Heading B8C A display carrier made from a folded blank of stiff material, Fig. 1, comprises two intersecting annular portions A, B which extend obliquely one across the other one of the annular portions A lying partly within the other annular portion B and being joined to it by a hinge line 23 which forms an edge of the carrier. As shown, a blank, made, e.g. of carton board, consists of two series of four panels 10-13 and 14-17 respectively the panels in each series being joined by transverse fold lines and the panels 11, 13, having intermediate their lengths, transverse fold lines 22. The panel 16 has a T-shaped slit 21 adapted to receive a tab 19 on the panel 12, and the blank is slit between the panels 13 and 17, 12 and 16; and 11 and 15. The blank is folded as shown in Fig. 2 and a glued flap 18 is stuck to the corresponding edges of the pahels 10, 14 before the blank is sent to a customer for erection and loading. The collapsed sleeve is erected by first opening it out to assume a rectangular crosssection and then deforming the annular portion A by pressing inwardly on the two opposing fold lines 22, the deformed annular portion A then being pushed through the annular portion B until the flap 19 has cleared the panel 16. The annular portion A is allowed to resume its rectangular cross-section and is then moved about the hinge line 23 to a position at rightangles to the portion B, Fig. 3. When the portions A, B have been loaded with stacked containers 25 they are pivoted towards each other about the hinge line 23 and the locking tab 20 is engaged in the 'slit 21.
