Abstract
1383034 Making rotary sliding vane compressors BORG-WARNER CORP 1 Sept 1972 [4 Oct 1971] 40686/72 Heading B3A [Also in Division F1] A rotary sliding vane compressor is assembled by rotatably mounting one end of the rotor shaft 30 of rotor 21, the rotor having a surface of selflubricating material, e.g. " Teflon ", in a horizontally disposed bearing plate 16, positioning a cylinder 11 above plate 16 and around the rotor 21, pivoting the cylinder 11 about a locating pin in coaxial holes 102, 103 of the cylinder and bearing plate so as to establish a contact line-to-line sealing fit between the rotor 21 and wall 12 of cylinder 11, the rotor thus being eccentrically positioned relative to wall 12, placing a further bearing plate 15 on top of rotor 21 and cylinder 11 such that a bearing 31 in plate 15 receives the other end of shaft 30, joining the whole assembly together by bolts 105 extending through corresponding holes in the plates 15, 16 and cylinder 11, drilling and reaming two holes 11 through the plate 16 and cylinder 11 and a further hole 113 through the cylinder 11 and plate 15, and driving tightly fitting dowel pins 115, 117 into the respective holes 111, 113. A shell 46, which holds an oil separator 89 and sump 44, is attached to a mounting ring 47 which is attached to assembly 10 of the plates 15, 16 and cylinder 11 by a plurality of bolts 119 rigidly fixed to ring 47. A lubricating internally-meshing gear pump 54 is mounted on plate 16 before assembly, the inner gear receiving the end of rotor shaft 30 when the latter is inserted into bearing plate 16.
