Abstract

1382632 Sheet forming GMT SA and P A LEFEBVRE 5 April 1972 [5 April 1971] 15695/72 Heading B5A A thermoplastic sheet 3 which is vacuum formed by a mould 2, has a rim accurately formed thereon by dies 5 and 8. In operation a heated sheet is clamped in a frame 11 with the dies 5 and 8 retracted. The two dies are then moulded together on their supporting frames 1 and 7, and the sheet is vacuum formed. At the limit of the closing movement, the rim is pressed into the sheet and the sheet is severed by an edge 14 on the die 5. The dies are cooled by fluid in ducts 17 and 18.
