1382579 Rotary mould table compression moulding machine W R BRUTON BROS Ltd 12 June 1972 [12 June 1971] 27628/71 Heading B5A A pie or confectionery moulding apparatus includes an intermittently driven rotary table 10 with circumferentially spaced apertures, each of which receive at one station of the table a container which is supplied, at a second station, with a paste which is moulded at a third station by a die 20 and punch 16a. The die is moved upwardly to engage the table and support it whilst the punch is forced downwardly to shape the paste to that of the container. At a further station the thus shaped paste receives pie filling material which is shaped and trimmed, after receiving a lid, in a second punch and die set 16b, 20 diametrically opposite the first set. The sealed and trimmed pie together with its container is ejected at a further station by downwardly deflecting the edge of the table, which is flexible, by a roller so that the pie is received by a plate and deflected to a shoot. The dies are moved upwardly by cams 21 on a drive shaft 22 and the punches are driven downwardly by the actuation of toggles 17 by a crank driven rod 18, the drive being provided by a motor 19. The latter also drives a worm gear 24 on a shaft 23 which effects the intermittent motion of the table. The latter may be interchanged with tables of different diameters with more or less apertures; the die sets may be replaced by other sets.
