Abstract

1381623 Graphite/alkali metal catalyst; hydrodealkylation SAGAMI CHEMICAL RESEARCH CENTER 25 Feb 1972 [11 Oct 1971] 8780/72 Heading B1E [Also in Divisions Cl and C5] Complexes of graphite and an alkali metal, and of graphite, a Group VIII transition metal chloride and an alkali metal (see Division Cl) are used as catalysts in the hydroalkylation of aromatic compounds. Specified complexes include C 8 K, C 24 K, and graphite-potassium complexes with FeCl 3 , NiCl 2 , CoCl 2 and RuCl 3 and a complex of graphite, sodium and FeCl 3 are disclosed.
