Abstract

1380976 Preparation of organic carbonyl Compounds ROUSSEL UCLAF 28 June 1972 [1 July 1971] 30207/72 Headings C2C and C2U Organic carbonyl group containing compounds are prepared by oxidizing a compound containing an oxidizable hydroxy group in the liquid phase by reaction with silver silicate. Starting from their respective hydroxy derivatives, the following compounds are prepared in the examples: 9-oxo-xanthene; 1,2- dioxo - 1,2 - bis - (p - methoxyphenyl) - ethane; 1,2 - dioxo - 1,2 - bis - (phenyl) - ethane; 3,4- methlenedioxy-benzaldehyde; benzoquinone; naphtho - 1,4 - quinone; 3 - methoxy - estra- 1,3,5 - trien - 17 - one; 3 - oxo - cholestane; 5# - androstan - 3 - one; and 5α - pregnane- 3,20-dione.
