Abstract

1380718 Headsets S G BROWN COMMUNICATIONS Ltd 19 March 1973 [20 Dec 1971] 59193/71 Heading H4J A headset comprises two earpieces at least one of which includes a receiver transducer mounted on a flexible headband, said earpieces also being pivotally mounted about generally vertical axes on a resilient neckband arranged to press the earpieces against the ears of a user. As described the invention is incorporated in the headset described in Specification 1,376,455. In the embodiment the headband comprises a resilient metal strip 30 embedded together with wiring 26 in padding material 31, the earpieces 10 being pivotally mounted as shown about axes 38 formed by bent up ends of wire stirrups 33 themselves rotatable, in clamps 32 secured to the ends of the strip 30. P.T.F.E. sleeves 39 and similar sleeves in clamps 32 allow vertical and horizontal rotation respectively of the earpieces but provide sufficient friction to maintain any set position. Alternatively an adjustable textile headband may extend over the wearer's head and be secured to the tops of the earpieces.
