Abstract

1379190 Indicating apparatus VDO ADOLF SCHINDLING AG 23 Aug 1973 [19 Sept 1972] 40077/73 Heading G1J An instrument cluster for a motor vehicle comprises a housing 1 in which instruments 2-5 are located behind viewing apertures in a coverplate 8, a common base-plate 11 having recesses 11a opening on to its periphery so that the instruments 2-5 can be inserted radially therein with guide flanges 12 on the instrument casings engaging the edges of the recesses 11a, the instruments being held in the recesses by the housing 1 after insertion of the base-plate 11 with the instruments into the housing. The baseplate also carries a central instrument 6, and is secured to the housing 1 by screws 13 engaging lands 7 moulded in the housing. The base-plate 11 may include electrical contacts which are engaged by contacts on the instruments 2-5 as they are slidden into the recesses 11a, Fig.4 (not shown). The guide flanges 12 may incorporate spring clips (14) Fig. (not shown) to assist in locating the instruments in the base-plate.
