Abstract
1378913 Preparation of aromatic ketones BAYER AG 21 July 1972 [28 July 1971 10 Aug 1971] 34140/72 Heading C2C Ketones are prepared by reacting a substituted or unsubstituted aromatic or heteroaromatic compound with an acylating agent in the presence of a perfluoroalkylsulphonic acid as catalyst. The perfluoroalkylsulphonic acid, preferably CF 3 SO 3 H, may be introduced as the acid or as a compound which yields said acid under the conditions of the reaction. Such compounds which are preferred have general formula RfSO 2 Y where Rf is a C 1 -C 18 perfluoroalkyl, perfluorocyclohexyl or perfluoroalkylcyclohexyl radical and Y is halogen or a radical OSO 2 R<SP>1</SP>f where R<SP>1</SP> f is defined in the same way as R f and may be the same as or different from R f .
