Abstract
1378331 Pumps; centrifugal blowers MOTT CORP 21 Jan 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 2932/72 Headings F1A and F1C [Also in Division F4] A compact pump and cooler unit, e.g. for the hydraulic drive of a mower mounted on a tractor, Fig.1 (not shown), comprises a pump 28 and a centrifugal blower 32 driven by a common pulley 50, e.g. driven by the tractor engine, the blower supplying cooling air to a heat exchanger 34 in a duct 36 one wall of which is formed by a reservoir 38 which receives cooled liquid from the heat exchanger and supplies it to the pump 28. The pump outlet 20 is connected to the mower drive motor (16) from which liquid returns via pipe 22, 138 passing through reservoir 38 to heat exchanger 34, apertures (143), Fig.4 (not shown), in pipe 138 by-passing some of the returned liquid directly into reservoir 38, while the remainder of the liquid is cooled and returned to the reservoir via apertures (151) in another pipe passing through the reservoir, apertures (143), (151) being directed away from the liquid surface in the reservoir to prevent aeration. A temperature gauge (150) is fitted to the end of the pipe connecting the heat exchanger to the reservoir. Liquid passes from the reservoir to pump 28 through a replaceable filter 40 accessible after removing cover 160. Blower 32 has a bladed rotor 62 with an inlet filter 72, the rotor being mounted in a housing 80 with clearances 82, 84, through which pressurized air passes outwardly to prevent entry of foreign matter.
