Abstract
1377966 Automatic electric control WERKZEUGMASCHINENKOMBINAT "7 OKTOBER" BERLIN VEB 2 Dec 1971 56026/71 Heading G3N An automated factory, Fig.1, comprises a complex 1 for gear blank turning and testing, a complex 2 for gear hobbing and cleaning, a complex 3 for induction hardening and a complex 4 for precision grinding and final testing. Workpieces for the individual machines 101-108, 201-208, 301-308, 401-408 are mounted on pallets and transported by longitudinal conveyers 7, 9 connected by a transverse conveyer 8. The pallets are fed in through a storage unit 20 and held, between complexes in storage units 21-24 and fed out to a storage unit 25. Pallets are withdrawn or added at points 5.1-5.12. Each machine has a pallet transfer device such as 6.1-6.8 of complex 1. Each subsystem has a despatcher's desk, such as 10.1 for manual control and optionally, a visual indicator 59.1 showing operation conditions of the complex. The operation of a machine tool such as 101 or 102 of complex 1, and a pallet transfer device 55, determining movements on the conveyers, is shown in Fig.3. The presence of a workpiece at the machine tool 101 is determined by a data collecting device 52.1 and fed together with information on the conveyer state to a local control device 12.1 and, as a static signal, over lines 48.1 to a coupling device 38.1. A change in condition of the device 38.1 causes an interrupt signal on line 46.1 to a distribution device 60 which, over an interrupt channel 44.0, activates a central control device 34 into communication with the local control device 12.1. The information channels 48.1 are first scanned and changes received by the device 34 over lines 42.1 and channel 42.0; according to the nature of the received changes the device 34.addresses the coupling device 38.1 through a channel 41.0 and lines 41.1 and feeds information over lines 49.1 to the local control device 12.1 for the machine 101. Additionally, information can be fed as to desired pallet movement to the transfer device 55 via lines 49.9 and the local control device 12.9. The tools required by a machine tool are held in a change-over pallet synchronized with the conveyer. Workpiece pallets are numbered and identified by the locks 5, Fig.1.
