137,727. Reid, J. May 6, 1919. Furnace fronts.-A ramp 1, rigid with the backplate 2 of a furnace front, leads from the ash-pit to the ash-pit flare or wall 3 of the furnace front. The necessity of sloping the flare 3 is thus avoided, and fronts having the same flares can be fitted to different furnaces by the use of suitable ramps. Modified constructions are described, in some of which the ramp is associated with an adapter ring by which the front is fitted' to the furnace.
