Abstract

1376540 Cinematography EASTMAN KODAK CO 15 March 1972 [15 March 1971] 12164/72 Heading G2E In a web handling apparatus, e.g. a cine projector, in which a web F is to be guided from threading channel 32, 34 to take-up reel hub 20, two web paths are provided. One is via link 36 and an arm 52 pivoted about 54 and the second is direct and represented by web F<SP>1</SP> in Fig 1. The path taken depends on the tension of the web which pivots snubber 44 against spring 48 to switch the web from the first to the second path. Fig. 1 shows part of a cine projector having horizontal plates 10, 12 and a reel 14 having flanges 16, 18, the reel being inclined relative to these plates. The link 36 is of a J-shaped cross-section having high and low walls 38, 40 respectively, the wall 40 having a taper 42 and a tab 58 is fitted adjacent to it. The taper 42 and tab 58 aid the web F to ride over the wall 40 so that as web tension increases, e.g. after the leading end of web F is attached to the projections 30, the web can be fed via the direct second path. When the web F has completely peeled off the link 36 the web tension acts on the snubber 44 to move it to the position shown in phantom. The arm 52 is of T-shaped cross-section, the stem 60 of the α strengthening the arm.
