Abstract

1376317 Cages THOMAS'S Ltd 13 Oct 1972 [13 July 1971] 32839/71 Heading AIM [Also in Division E2] A cage is formed in two parts one of which can be accommodated within the other for storage. As shown the upper part of a wire cage is formed by a portion 31 having outwardly projecting pivot pins 36 carried by wire frames 33 welded to its side faces 34, the pins 36 being engaged in holes provided in a main body portion of the cage (not shown). The main body and portion 31 are formed with cooperating wire loops 38 through which metal rods can be passed to retain the cage in its erected condition. For storage the portion 31 can be pivoted to an inverted position within the main body. In a modification the pivot pins 36 are omitted and portion 31 may simply be releasably mounted on the main body by the rods passing through the loops 38; alternatively for storage one of the rods may be withdrawn and the portion 31 pivoted about the other rod to a position inside the main body. and this arrangement may be further modified by providing hinges at one end instead of a rod and the loops 38. A base may be secured to the main body portion by wire clips.
