1375390 Coin sorting and dispensing MITSUBISHI JUKOGYO KK 16 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 58537/71 Heading G4X In a coin sorting and dispensing machine coins are fed along a path C1 at constant velocity and spacing to a discrimination means 2 which detects unspecified physical properties of the coins and is connected to a false coin discharge means 6 operable to discharge a coin to reject path C3, the genuine coins then being examined by means 3 for surface damage with unacceptable coins being discharged by means 7 along path C4, a coin discharge means 4 dispensing the acceptable coins along path C2, where they are counted to container S3. In the embodiment described the coins are fed to path C1 from diameter testing means 1, which sorts acceptable coins from those of larger and smaller diameter into path C5 and also removes warped coins into path C6. Two coin detectors P7, P8 are used for the coins in discharge path C2 these being connected to respective counters (F), (G); (Fig. 2, not shown) which provide a cross-check on each other. The operation of discharge means 4 is stopped at certain preset levels of counters (F), (G). A coin replenishment means 5 is provided which automatically supplies an acceptable coin to discharge means 4 when a damaged coin is discharged along path C4, and which may be manually operated when all the coins have been tested to bring the count of the counters (F), (G) up to one of the preset levels. Further detectors P 0 to P6 are located on the various coin paths and are connected to associated counters to provide indications of the total numbers of coins charged, coins of irregular diameter, warped coins, false coins, true coins, damaged coins and coins supplied by the replenishment means.
