Abstract
1375160 Heat exchange surfaces HALL THERMOTANK INTERNATIONAL Ltd 1 Nov 1971 [29 Oct 1970] 51498/70 Heading F4S [Also in Division C7] A heat-transfer surface is treated to enhance the rate of nucleate boiling thereon by applying spots of masking material thereto, e.g. the spots having a diameter of 0À001-0À1 mm. and covering less than 5% of the surface area, and thereafter electroplating the uncovered surface with a highly heat-conductive metal, e.g. copper. The metal deposited may have a rough surface; may be of higher heat-conductivity than the parent surface, and may overlap the masking spots to form re-entrant cavities, if the spots are removed.
