1374325 Isomannide mono-oleate MERCK & CO Inc 5 Oct 1972 46028/72 Heading C2C The invention comprises pure isomannide mono-oleate of formula It may be prepared by reacting isomannide with an acylating agent of formula in which X is hydroxy, halo, C 1 -C 4 alkoxy or mononuclear aryloxy optionally in the presence of an acidic catalyst. Oleoyl chloride, used as starting material, is prepared by heating oleic acid with oxalyl chloride. Isomannide, used as starting material is prepared by reacting dmannitol with concentrated hydrochloric acid. Examples are given of the use of isomannide mono-oleate as adjuvant for vaccines.
