Studs, externally-applied.- A number of pads of uniform shape are secured to the sole and heel, each pad being formed with recesses and being secured by nails or screws e, which, according to the Provisional Specification, pass through leather or other non-slipping insets d. The pads may be made from waste rubber, such as worn tyres, and the recesses in them are formed by mechanical means as described in Specification 133,808, [Class 31 (ii), Punching and perforating machines &c.]. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 20473/03.
