1373317 Oxidation catalysts, spray drying SOC ITALIANA RESINE SIR SpA 24 Oct 1972 [17 Nov 1971] 48950/72 Headings B1B and BIE [Also in Division C2] Hollow cylindrical pellets comprising (a) a mixture of 13.0-20.5 molde % Fe 2 O 3 and 79.5-87.0 mole % MoO 3 and (b) cobalt molybdate in a weight ratio of a:b of 15-35:1 are prepared by the precipitation of (a) and (b) from soluble salts, spray drying the wet paste of the precipitate containing 25-75% wt. of water, maintaining the particles otained in fluidized form in the bottom of the spray drier for not more than 30 min. by the introduction of a fluidizing gas preheated to not more than 250‹C until the water content of the particles is 0.5-15% wt., pelleting the particles and calcining them. The fluidizing gas may be air or nitrogen.
