Abstract

1370455 Waste water aeration KIMBERLYCLARK CORP 24 Sept 1971 [25 Sept 1970 (2) 30 April 1971 (2)] 44695/71 Heading C1C [Also in Division B1] Waste water is aerated by jets of mixed air and water which cause it to circulate in a closed path and prevent settling out of solids. As shown the path is an oval channel and air and water are supplied by a blower 36 and pump 34 to banks of injectors 28 (see Fig. 4, not shown) near the bottom of the channel, influent and effluent being respectively supplied and withdrawn tangentially over weirs 24, 26. The channel may be of the order of 20 feet deep and the radius R is preferably three times the width W (and not as depicted). In other arrangements (see Figs. 6 and 7, not shown) the injectors are suspended from floats which carry the pump and blower and are restrained by guy wires (116). The blower may be dispensed with and air induced through an intake (130, Fig. 8, not shown) into an injector near the surface and inclined downwardly at an angle of 10 degrees or more. The velocity imparted to the liquid is preferably at least 0À3 feet/sec and in a further stage the sludge may be separated and returned in an amount of 25 to 125% by volume of the incoming raw waste.
