Abstract

1370269 Disc brakes ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA AB 10 Feb 1972 [11 Feb 1971] 6198/72 Heading F2E A brake for the driving device of a transformer tap changer comprises a brake disc 1 adapted to be driven by the driving motor of the tap changer, and brake shoes 12, 13 co-operating with a braking surface thereof, a rotatable control disc 3, driven simultaneously with the brake disc, having at least two parts of different radial distances from its axis of rotation and a surface follower 7 which abuts the periphery of the disc 3 and is journalled on a control arm 5. The position of the arm 5 is dependent upon that of the surface follower on the disc 3 and an operating rod 11 controlled by the arm is arranged to move the brake shoes towards or away from the disc 1. As shown, the disc 3 which preferably rotates more slowly than the disc 1 and may be driven by the latter through gearing, has a recess 4, or two or more depressed parts or raised collars, and the shoes 12, 13 normally contact the disc 1. When the follower 7 moves out of the recess, the rod 11 is moved to the left or the right as seen in Fig. 1, depending on the direction of rotation of the disc 3, and rollers 15, 16 journalled on the shoes 12, 13 are moved apart by engagement thereof with the wider parts 20 of the rod to disengage the shoes from the disc 1.
