Abstract
1367251 Toothed gearing WESTDEUTSCHE GETRIEBEWERKE GmbH 2 Feb 1972 [2 Feb 1971] 4970/72 Heading F2Q In a drive for a rotary member, such as a rotary drum, a relatively large gear-wheel 2, secured to the member, is engaged by two pinions 3 mounted in a carrier 4 which is supported from a machine foundation 5 by radius rods 6 having ball joints 7. The wheel 2 and pinions 3 are provided with annular recesses 13, Fig. 2, which accommodate spacer rings, surrounding the pinions 3 or the wheel 2, in order to ensure correct meshing of the gear teeth Alternatively, the pinions 3 engage the wheel 2 either below or above its horizontal diameter and the radius rods 6 are inclined to the vertical plane passing through the axis of the member.
