1366793 Card selector K TAKEDA 27 Oct, 1972 [30 Oct 1971] 49743/72 Heading G4M A card selector for cards having identifying notches in their lower edges has a set of bars corresponding to all possible notch positions and one bar spaced from the set and situated where no notch exists on which the lower edge of the cards rest. All the bars are raised for selection with the one bar and selected bars of the set being raised further so that cards having notches corresponding to the selected bars are raised further at one end by the one bar than at the other end by the selected bars to cause a lower corner to extend beyond the stack. When the bars are lowered the said corner is engaged on a ledge to further separate the selected card or cards. The set of bars (of which b4 is shown, Fig. 5) contain inclined slots receiving bar supporting shafts 12. The one bar B receives supporting shafts 14 in similar inclined slots. A reversible motor M via a rack and pinion mechanism oscillates a rack 19. At each end of the rack are pinions 20 coupled to a cam 22 arranged to raise a support 15 carrying the shafts 12 and 14. The bars (of which b2 is shown in Fig. 8) have inclined ends engaging a similarly inclined surface C on a rotary cam E2. The cam is spring- loaded into engagement with the bar but is normally rotated when the bar is raised. For selected bars a solenoid is operated to engage abutments f1, f2, f3 to prevent rotation of the cam and move the bar to the left to raise the bar as shaft 12 slides in slot 13. The one bar B engages a cam that is fixed against rotation. The cams have three abutments to allow solenoids for three adjacent cams to be angularly displaced (Fig. 10, not shown) since the solenoids are thicker than the cams. The inclined cards rest on the step formed by surface 11 (Fig. 5).
