1365053 Trueing grinding wheels TOYODA KOKI KK 5 Jan 1973 [18 Jan 1972] 810/73 Heading B3D Apparatus for dressing the peripheral surface of a grinding wheel 17 comprises a supporting base 1, a feeding table 3 slidably mounted on the base and movable toward and away from the grinding wheel by an in-feeding device and and having a template 54, a traverse table 32 slidably movable in the in-feeding table in the axial direction of the grinding wheel, a main body 34 fixed on the traverse table, a compensating ram 36 slidably mounted within the body and provided with a dressing tool 47, a profile ram 37 in tandem relation with the compensating ram slidable within the body and having a stylus 53 at one end for engaging the template, and actuating means connected to the profile ram to urge the stylus into contact with the template. The base 1 is mounted in a wheel slide and has guides 2 for the feeding table 3 which is movable along the guide by a screw 5 engaging a nut 4 and rotated by a feeding device. A plate 56 is mounted on the table and carries the template 54 having a profile 54a. A guideway 3a in the table 3 receives a projection 32a of a traverse table 32 movable parallel to the axis of the grinding wheel by an actuator. The main body 34 is secured by screws 35 to the table 32 and is provided with a bore 34a housing a bushing 29 and bearings 38, 41 for the compensating ram 36 and profile ram 37. One end of ram 36 has a holder 46 for the diamond dresser 47, and the other end has a cylindrical bore 36b having bushing 44 and nut 45. The rams 37 has a bore in which is disposed a shaft 43 supported on bearings 48, 49 and having at one end, a screw thread 43a engaging threaded portions 44a, 54a in the bush and nut, respectively, and, at the other end, a point 43b keyed to a member 57 having a worm wheel 58 engaged by a worm 67 of a compensating device 27. Actuation of the device rotates the screw 43 to cause axial movement of the compensating ram 36 relative to the profile ram 37. A flange 37b extends from the profile ram 37 and carries the stylus 53 which is urged into contact with the template by fluid pressure supplied to a cylinder 34b which is disposed in body 34 and has a piston 50 connected by a rod 51 to the flange 37b. The apparatus may be used in a machine for grinding crank-pins having a plurality of grinding wheels, each wheel facing a respective dressing apparatus mounted on the table 32.
