1364169 Salicoyl-acyl-hydrazines CIBAGEIGY AG 23 June 1972 [29 June 1971] 29609/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] The invention comprises compounds of Formula I in which R 1 denotes H, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 3 or C 4 alkenyl, C 6 -C 8 cycloalkyl, C 7 -C 9 aralkyl, phenyl, Cl, -OH, C 1 -C 18 alkoxy, C 2 -C 18 acyloxy or C 2 -C 18 acylamino; R 2 denotes H, C 1 -C 5 alkyl, C 3 or C 4 alkenyl, cyclohexyl, C 7 -C 9 aralkyl, Cl or OH; R 3 denotes C 2 -C 21 alkyl, cyclohexyl or a radical of Formula Ia in which m=0 or 1, n=0, 1 or 2, n-m being not less than 0 if the OH group is in the ortho position to the -(CH 2 )ngroup, R 4 denotes H, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 3 or C 4 alkenyl, C 6 -C 8 cycloalkyl, C 7 -C 9 aralkyl, phenyl, Cl, -OH, C 1 -C 18 alkoxy, C 2 -C 18 acyloxy or C 2 -C 18 acylamino; when m is 1 R 5 denotes H, C 2 -C 5 alkyl, C 3 or C 4 alkenyl, cyclohexyl, C 7 -C 9 aralkyl, Cl or OH, and when m = O R 5 denotes H, C 1 -C 8 alkyl, C 3 or C 4 alkenyl, C 6 -C 8 cycloalkyl ,C 7 -C 9 aralkyl, phenyl, Cl, OH, C 1 -C 18 alkoxy, C 2 -C 18 acyloxy or C 2 -C 18 acylamino. The compounds may be prepared by reacting a compound of formula with a compound of formula R 3 -COY where Y is Cl or O alkyl, or by reacting a compound of Formula IV with a compound of formula The compounds of Formula I are of value as stabilizers, especially against the action of metals, for use in polyolefins.
