Abstract

1363553 Telegraph keying circuits SIEMENS AG 3 July 1972 [2 Aug 1971] 31015/72 Heading H4P Single current signalling in a subscriber teleprinter connection line AnL is effected by a keying contact bk which in one position (as shown) connects the battery TB to the line AnL, and in the other position simultaneously cuts off the battery and shorts the line AnL through a diode, D in parallel with the RC circuit R1, C1. The keying contact bk is operated by a receiving relay B responsive to double current signals from a trunk FL. The diode D permits current to flow to discharge the capacitance of the line AnL; and the capacitance rings with the inductance of a receiving magnet EM connected to the line and thereby accelerates dropout thereof by cancelling remanent magnetism. The diode D is blocked during ringing. A resistor R2 across C1 is larger than R1 and discharges C1 when the keying contact is switched back to the position shown by a suitable double current signal received at B. The diode D also serves to decouple the subscriber line AnL when it is disconnected, and is therefore exhibiting voltage and current fluctuations, from the transmitting relay AI, AII in order to prevent erroneous operation thereof. The transmitting relay AI, AII operates contact a in response to subscriber teleprinter key sk, to send double current signals to the trunk, FL. The current in the subscriber connection line AnL, when bk is as shown, is kept constant by an automatic control circuit K, which also serves to conduct holding current for transmitter relay AI when bk cuts off the subscriber line AnL. The latter function may be performed by an adjustable extension line resistor (R H , Figs 3, 4, not shown); and contact bk may be replaced by a pair of simultaneously operated contacts (bk1, bk2).
