1363270 Suspending curtains ANTIFERENCE Ltd 21 Dec 1972 [23 Dec 1971] 60132/71 Heading A4B A curtain drawing assembly includes a drawcord 14 disposed in a longitudinal groove 2b in a rail 2 supporting a master slider or driver 12 and is provided with means mounted on the driver 12 for coupling the driver 12 to the drawcord 14, the coupling means including a cord embracing portion 22 disposed in the groove 2b and an operating portion 24 disposed outside the groove 2b for movement between a first position in which the cord embracing portion 22 clamps the driver 12 to the cord and a second, release position in which the driver 12 is slidable along the cord 14. The rail is fitted at its ends with similar fittings 6 for guiding the runs of the cord 14, each fitting 6 having three pulley wheels 30, 32, 36 two of which 30, 36 are used at one end to guide the runs to a vertical depending position and another two 30, 32 being used at the opposite end to reverse the direction of the runs. In one embodiment, Figs. 4, 5, the operating member 24 is rotatable to twist the cord embracing member 22 through 90 degrees to the position shown in Fig. 5 in which the cord 14 is kinked and tightly gripped in the cord embracing loop 22 which may be open or closed. Other forms of coupling means used a closed loop for embracing and kinking the cord are described Figs. 9-12 and 14 (not shown). In another embodiment, Fig. 17, the cord 14 is gripped within an embracing portion 62 when integral links 64 of an operating portion are brought together and secured by snap engagement of their edges 72, 74 or by a screw (66), Fig. 15 (not shown). Alternatively Fig. 21 (not shown) the cord is gripped between two plates (108, 110) with arcuate, cord -embracing grooves 102 drawn together by a screw (66). In a further embodiment, Fig. 22, the cord is gripped by a tongue 112a-c bent around the cord and anchored in a slot 112d. In a further embodiment, Fig. 26, the cord is gripped by a resilient wire loop having crossed over extensions 122, 124 which are movable towards each other to release the cord. In a further embodiment, Fig. 27, a U-shaped member 140 has inward projections which snap selectively into recesses 152, 154 in the respective cord clamping and release positions.
