Abstract

1362149 Gyro rotors NORTH AMERICAN ROCKWELL CORP 30 Jan 1973 [15 June 1972] 4525/73 Heading G1C [Also in Division B3] A mass unbalanced spherical gyroscope rotor comprises a solid sphere 22 machined from segments (24), Fig. 3 (not shown) of an extruded beryllium billet 10 (see Division B3). Silver wires are inserted into holes made along the axis of the billet, approximately 70 degrees apart, before extrusion to overcome undesirable effects of anisotropy of the beryllium in the finished rotor.
