Abstract
1361767 Extracting metal values from sulphide ores TRW Inc 23 Jan 1973 [27 Jan 1972 (2)] 3293/73 Heading C1A Metal values are extracted from metal sulphide ores by reacting with an aqueous solution of SO 2 and HCl or HBr forming metal ions and elemental sulphur. The temperature may be 150-250‹ C. The preferred acid is HCl and suitable concentrations are 0À9M SO 2 and 3À6M HCl. Exemplified ores are chalcocite, chalcopyrite, sphalerite, galena, pentlandite and pyrite; others are listed.
