1361502 Workman's clocking in/out cards ANDERS & CO INHABER ARTHUR ANDERS GEBR 6 Aug 1971 [6 Aug 1970] 37102/71 Heading G4T A workman's clocking in/out card bears a column II of pre-recorded machine readable marks 57 and a series of columns 1-15, each corresponding to a particular day and in each of which machine readable marks 58-60 and 61-63 may be recorded to indicate by their position in the column clocking-in times and clocking-out times respectively for the corresponding day. Column I bears numerals indicating times of day. When reading the card, column II is scanned by a first device, which produces a pulse each time a mark 57 is sensed, and a particular day column is scanned by a second device which ensures that only those pulses corresponding to working periods 58-61, 59-62, 60-63 are fed to a counter. The marks may be mechanically sensible, e.g. punched holes, or magnetically, optically or electrically sensible. A column of the pre-recorded marks may be arranged alongside each individual day column, Fig. 4 (not shown). Numerals representing the associated time may be printed beneath each mark in the particular day columns. The legible print and the machine readable marks may be arranged on opposite sides of the card. The prerecorded column of marks may include gaps corresponding to predetermined lunch break &c. times and durations, Fig. 5 (not shown), so that only marks 58, 63, Fig. 3, need be recorded in each day column. Alternatively, the prerecorded column of marks may be continuous (i.e. include no gaps) and yet have been recorded to automatically take account of the breaks, Fig. 6 (not shown). Space 56 of the card may bear legible print and machine readable markings identifying the card holder's name, work number and department, Fig. 7 (not shown).
