Abstract
1361431 Electrical musical instruments PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 20 Got 1971 [23 Oct 1970] 48782/71 Heading G5J Bus-bars of keyboards a, b and c in an electronic musical instrument carrying notes of the same pitch, e.g. the 8 foot pitch as shown, may be coupled together, via volume controls, by switches S 11 , S 11 <SP>1</SP> and S 11 <SP>11</SP>. For example, if contact S 12 is closed and switch S 11 is placed in its second position, contact 11 is connected to the moving contact of the switch so that whenever key 1 in keyboard a is played the resulting signal from bus-bar 8 is passed to amplifier V of keyboard a and amplifier V<SP>1</SP> of keyboard b. The signal passed to amplifier V can be controlled in volume by device 18, further devices 18<SP>1</SP> and 18<SP>11</SP> being of similar construction. By placing switch S 11 in its third position keyboard a is coupled to both amplifiers V<SP>1</SP> and V<SP>11</SP> and by placing the switch in its fourth position keyboard a is coupled to amplifier V<SP>11</SP> of keyboard c. The amplifiers have variable output characteristics controlled by stops to provide a variety of effects. If switches S 12 , S 12 <SP>1</SP> are opened and S 11 , S 11 <SP>1</SP> placed in their second positions, keyboard a plays through amplifier V<SP>1</SP> and keyboard b plays through amplifier V i.e. the amplifier and stops of keyboards a, b have been interchanged. In a further example, keyboard c may be arranged to play through both stop groups of keyboards a and c simultaneously. Various further combinations of the keyboards and amplifiers are possible by appropriate use of the switches.
