Abstract

1361165 Door hold-open device ATWOOD VACUUM MACHINE CO 21 Feb 1973 [13 March 1972] 8405/73 Headings E2F and E2M A door hold-open device comprises a pair of pivotally connected members 11, 12, a preloaded torsion bar 23 mounted at the member and having a laterally extending arm (22), Fig. 1 (not shown) on which is mounted a roller 20, and a plurality of strikers 18 on the member 11 arranged in an arc centred on the hinge axis 13 so that on opening each striker in turn engages and has rolling contact with the roller to deflect the torsion bar and thus define a hold-open position. The roller 20 is fluted and has a shank portion 31 which is held by the torsion bar against a surface 32 of the member 12 to prevent rotation of the roller, except during rolling contact with a striker. The strikers 18 are carried by a flange 16 on the member 11 which also has a lug engageable with a flange 36 on the member 12 to act as a positive stop. The roller 20 has a blind hole 37 for receiving the end of the torsion bar and may have a communicating hole 39 or axial grooves (40), Fig. 7 (not shown) for lubrication.
