Abstract

1359267 Colour television GRUNDIG EMV 20 Oct 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 48443/72 Heading H4F A one-tube colour television camera has, in front of the face-plate 2, a colour-strip filter 4, which has alternate transparent strips 5, alternate ones of the intervening strips 6 being of one colour (e.g. cyan), the remaining strips 7 being of a second colour (e.g. yellow). The video signal produced by scanning of tube 1 is separated into luminance and two colour components by electronic switches 10, 11, 12 controlled by circuit 13 to be closed when the corresponding strips are being scanned, circuit 13 being responsive to the transparent strips 5 being scanned as the transparent strips 5 are made of higher transparency than the coloured strips 6, 7. Correct phase of operation of circuit 13 is ensured by the use of a light source 14 viewing an area of strip filter 4 which does not receive light from the viewed scene. The light from light source 14 is of such a colour (red for yellow and cyan strips) that one of the sets of coloured strips 6, 7 blocks the light from this source, to provide a zero-amplitude pulse in the video output, the other set of coloured strips 7, 6 transmitting at least part of the light from source 14. The strips 6, 7 may be red and blue, respectively, in which case the light from source 14 may be cyan.
