Abstract

1359238 Cutting tips HOY CARBIDES Ltd 3 April 1973 [31 Aug 1972] 40499/72 Heading B3B An interchangeable cutting insert 3 comprises two hexagonal sides 1 having alternate acute and obtuse angle corners 2 and 4 respectively and a peripheral face extending around the insert between the sides and having cutting edges at the acute angle corners. The sides of the insert in the region of the cutting edge are relieved as indicated by 6 and the sides converge in a direction away from the cutting edge and provide side clearance. A chip controlling groove is formed behind each cutting edge.
