1358395 Synthetic filaments C Z CARROLLPORCZYNSKI 4 Sept 1972 [2 June 1971] 18587/71 Heading B5B Synthetic fibres or filaments are made from synthetic plastics materials found to be capable of producing shavings by forming the resin into a rod or wire shaped configuration, and shaving filaments from the surface of the resulting rod or wire-shaped body using a wire shaving machine or a turnscrew-equipped lathe. Specified materials include polyethylene and polypropylene, and halogenated hydrocarbons e.g. polytetrafluoroethylene and copolymers of hexafluoropropane and vinylidene fluoride. Polybenzimidazole may also be used. Filaments so made are of an angular cross-section.
