Abstract

1356866 Washing dust-laden air; air filter SCHWARZ HOLYWELL Ltd 27 April 1972 19613/72 Headings B1R and BIT Apparatus for washing dust-laden air comprises annular chamber 3 in which the air is sprayed with steam or water at 2, stationary vanes 4 which impart a helical motion to the wet air flow, a conical filter section which consists of solid outer casing 5 and inner double filter 7, 8 converging towards the open apex of the cone, sprays 9 directed on to the surface of filter 7, fluid outlet 10 with spray 11 leading from the cone apex into container 12 via a fluid lock, and an air outlet formed by exhaust pipe 16 in which is mounted spray 14 and rotary vanes 15. The filters may be of perforated steel sheet, wire mesh, plastic netting or cloth.
