Abstract

1356844 Resistors A A KNYAZHEV T I AVDEEVA N I SHAPIRO and E M BAIKOVA 28 May 1971 18037/71 Heading H1S A method of manufacture of electrical contacts on filamentary carbon-varnish resistors in which a layer of current-conducting paste containing a binder, preferably consisting of a mixture of fine-dispersed silver, glyptol resin and dibutyl phthalate with a xylol and turpentine solvent, is applied on to a varnish-soot coating, based on terephthalic resins, and is then burnt in at a temperature of 280-300‹ C. for 30-60 seconds. An alcohol-colophony or salicylglycerine flux is then applied to the paste and the fluxed portions timed for 3 to 5 hours with a lead-tin compound having low-melting additives such as cadmium at a temperature of 140- 180‹ C. The paste may be applied in bands on to a continuously moving glass thread having a carbon-varnish coating which, after tinning, is divided into individual resistois by cutting the thread through the middle of the bands.
