Abstract
1355994 Alkyl 6-tetradecenoate derivatives ROUSSEL UCLAF 30 April 1971 [30 April 1970] 42237/73 Divided out of 1355992 Heading C2C The invention comprises compounds of the formula where R<SP>1</SP> is alkyl of 1-8 carbon atoms and m is 3, 4 or 5. The compounds are prepared by reacting a compound of the formula wherein Hal is chlorine or bromine with an alkali metal alcoholate. These starting materials may be obtained by first reacting propargylacetic acid or a functional derivative thereof with a precursor compound for the CH 2 CO 2 R<SP>1</SP> group to give a compound of the formula subjecting this to enol etherification to give a compound of the formula where alk 1 is alkyl of 1-8 carbon atoms, converting this to a metal salt and reacting with a compound of the formula to give a compound of the formula which is hydrolysed under acid conditions to give a compound of the formula which is catalytically hydrogenated using a partially deactivated hydrogenation catalyst to give a compound of Formula III
