Abstract

1355596 Direction indicator switches for road vehicles K YASUDA 11 July 1972 [11 Sept 1971] 32344/72 Heading G4Q A device for automatically cancelling a road vehicle turn signal after the vehicle has travelled a predetermined distance comprises an axially displaceable threaded member 17 driven from the vehicle driving shaft, and pawls 20, 21 either of which can be moved into engagement with the thread 18 of member 17 by externally operable means which also switches on the turn signals; when the member 17 has moved axially a predetermined distance, the pawl disengages and is automatically re-set to a neutral position, the member 17 returning to its starting point under the action of spring 19. The member 17 is mounted on boss 15 which slides along spindle 16, but is keyed to it, the spindle being driven via cable 4 and reduction gearing from the vehicle driving shaft. The pawls 20, 21 are at the ends of arms of a bell crank member 22, which is pivoted at 7 and is moved by the action of an operating lever and bifurcated arm member 30 on cap 24 mounted on the bell crank member 22 and held in operative position by leaf spring 28. The operating lever also controls the indicator lights, Fig. 1 (not shown). The member 17 may be replaced by a cylindrical member having a threaded portion on its exterior or interior.
