1355199 Electro-acoustic delay lines LICENTIA PATENT - VERWALTUNGS - GmbH 2 Aug 1971 [28 Aug 1970] 36213/71 Heading H3U In an acoustic delay line 1 comprising a glass medium supporting input and output piezoelectric transducers 2, 3, at least one of the regions a-e, for example b, at which the acoustic wave beam 4 is reflected, is formed with one or two steps, so that, due to interference between the components (5, 6), Fig. 2 (not shown), of the beam, the bandpass characteristic of the delay line is modified. The height (h) of the step, and its lateral position which determines the relative strength of the components (5, 6) are chosen to "square-off" the bandpass characteristic, Figs. 3, 4 (not shown), the number of wavelengths (n) in the path difference typically varying between 0À5 and 3À5 in the middle of the passband. The delay line may be used in a "PAL" colour television receiver.
