Abstract
1354934 Refractory material SANAC SpA REFRATTARI ARGILLE E CAOLINI 29 July 1971 [7 Aug 1970] 35632/71 Heading C1J Refractory material is produced by compressing and firing a mixture of (a) particulate starting material (less than 10 weight per cent greater than 0À05 mm.) (b) a first additive whose atoms penetrate the lattices of the starting material selected from Li and Cs silicates (e.g. mixed silicates), Li and Cs phosphates and mixtures thereof and (c) a second additive favouring sliding of the lattices of the starting material during the firing selected from aluminium phosphates, magnesium oxide, sodium and potassum silicates, calcium oxide, strontium oxide, titanium oxide and mixtures thereof. The starting material is zirconium silicate and aluminate, alumina, magnesite and/or chromite. The compression may be at from 1000 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> to 2000 kg./cm.<SP>2</SP> and the firing from 1550-1700‹ C. The use of compositions containing zirconium silicate and alumina with various particle size distributions containing up to 3 weight per cent additives is illustrated in the examples.
