1353887 Charring chromatograms CONTINENTAL OIL GO 12 April 1972 [21 April 1971] 16810/72 Heading B1H In a process for charring thin-layer chromatograms by heating with a hot plate for the subsequent analysis thereof, heat from the hot plate is evenly distributed to the chromatograms by means provided therefor whereby the chromatogram is evenly charred. Apparatus may comprise a normal hot-plate plus a heat distribution plate having "heat-leak" channels or grooves in its surface so spaced as to produce the same temperature at the edge of the plate as at the middle; alternatively, the heat-leak channels may be in the surface of the hot-plate itself in which case a smooth-surfaced heat distrbution plate is used.
