Abstract
1353732 Rotor blade monitoring DEFENCE SECRETARY OF STATE FOR 3 Sept 1971 [5 June 1970] 27351/70 Heading G1A A machine including a bladed rotor is provided with a probe mounted on the machine close to the path of the blade tips, constructed to produce an electrical pulse at each tip passage, and with means to extract information regarding blade movement e.g. vibration amplitude from the train of pulses thus produced. The probe may be electro-optical using fibre optic light conductors or may be capacitive, magnetic, eddy current or Piezo-electric. Two probes may be fitted and the train may be displayed on a cathode-ray tube the scan of which is synchronized by the output from a counter. Information derived from pulse train analysis is exemplified and the polishing of one tip for a reference is described. The G. R. T. output may be photographed.
